Meet Angela; our winner from the North of Ghana.

Angela Serwa Fosu is 25 years old and is called Ekua at home. She lives a little outside Kumasi with her mother and younger sister of 13. In her free time, Angela likes to read books. Her favorite dish is rice with stew that her mother often makes.

Her mother is a hardworking woman who sells second-hand clothes on the market and that is how Angela ended up in textiles. In high school she chose to study textiles and here she really enjoyed working with fabrics. After working various jobs for a few years, she finally decided at the age of 23 to follow her dream and become a seamstress.

If she had to choose, her favorite item is the cooking apron. Complex to make due to the double-sided nature, but with a great end result due to the combinations of prints.

Did you know in Ghana second hand clothing is a hugely lucrative business? It is the most common option for everyday clothing. For occasions and Sundays, people usually wear colorful handmade clothes.
