Angela Serwaa Fosu is 25 years old and is called Ekua at home. She lives a bit outside Kumasi with her mother and younger sister of 13. In her spare time Angela likes to read books. Her favorite dish is rice with pot roast that her mother often makes.
Her mother is a hard-working woman who sells second-hand clothes on the market and that is how Angela ended up in textiles. In high school she chose textiles and here she really enjoyed working with fabrics. After a few years of doing different jobs, she finally decided at the age of 23 to follow her dream and become a seamstress.
If she had to choose, her favorite item is the cooking apron. Complex to make due to the double-sidedness, but with a great end result due to the combinations of prints.
Did you know in Ghana secondhand clothing is a hugely lucrative business? It is the most common option for everyday wear. For occasions and Sundays, people usually wear colorful handmade clothes.
